Senior Shopify Developer (Remote – Anywhere)

About the Role

The client seeks an experienced Senior Shopify Developer to support a growing portfolio of ecommerce projects. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a technically proficient, collaborative developer with deep Shopify Plus experience who is passionate about crafting scalable, high-performance ecommerce solutions.

The role involves leading or contributing significantly to the architecture, development, and optimization of Shopify storefronts and apps. The successful candidate will work alongside designers, strategists, and developers to deliver polished, tailored digital commerce experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the design, build, and launch of custom Shopify storefronts and applications.
• Develop and optimize features using Shopify Plus, Liquid, and the Shopify API.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to translate designs and requirements into performant code.
• Enhance storefront performance, SEO, and UX with a data-driven, detail-focused approach.
• Maintain, debug, and scale existing Shopify solutions with an eye toward reliability and extensibility.
• Stay abreast of the latest Shopify platform updates, development practices, and third-party integrations.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional Shopify development experience.
• Proven delivery of projects on Shopify Plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and SCSS.
• Experience integrating and using Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL).
• Demonstrated ability to build custom themes from scratch.
• Proficient with Git and experienced in agile, collaborative teams.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards, mobile responsiveness, and conversion optimization.
• Strong understanding of managing large-scale storefronts with performance in mind.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with headless Shopify setups (e.g. Hydrogen, Next.js).
• Knowledge of ecommerce tools like Klaviyo, Recharge, Yotpo, and analytics platforms.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and staging workflows.
• Familiarity with multi-currency, internationalization, or high-traffic Shopify implementations.
