PHP/Symfony Developer (Full-Time, Long-Term)

Location: Remote (work from anywhere)

The client seeks an experienced PHP/Symfony Developer to join a long-standing web platform project that has been actively maintained and developed for over 12 years. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a skilled developer who can seamlessly integrate into a distributed team and contribute immediately.

The platform serves a large, engaged community and requires a developer who is comfortable working within a legacy codebase while contributing to ongoing feature development and maintenance. The client is transitioning internal resources to other projects and is seeking a dependable developer to fill this key role.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain features for a large-scale web platform built with PHP and Symfony.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across the stack: backend and frontend.
• Work with MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/CSS to support site functionality and user interface elements.
• Participate in weekly standups with a primarily American team; clear and effective communication is essential.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers to implement new features and resolve issues.
• Potentially manage caching, cloud infrastructure, and performance optimization (experience with Fastly, Varnish, DynamoDB, AWS is a plus).

Required Qualifications:

• Strong professional experience with PHP and the Symfony framework.
• Solid understanding of MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Clear spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively in team calls.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with performance optimization tools and infrastructure, particularly Fastly, Varnish, DynamoDB, and AWS services.
• Experience working on legacy codebases with long-term development timelines.
