Power BI Consultant (Azure Data Preparation)

Overview

The client seeks an experienced Power BI Consultant to step into an ongoing project and provide continuity following a recent change in resourcing.

This role involves supporting and extending an existing Power BI solution, with a strong focus on data preparation within Microsoft Azure (likely leveraging a cloud-based data warehouse environment). Much of the core development work has already been completed, and the consultant will be responsible for reviewing the current implementation, ensuring stability, and delivering the next phase of enhancements.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can confidently step into an active client engagement and quickly build trust.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess the existing Power BI solution and Azure-based data environment

• Support and enhance data preparation processes within Azure

• Work with existing datasets, data models, and reporting structures

• Deliver additional development steps required to progress the project

• Ensure data integrity, performance optimisation, and reporting accuracy

• Communicate clearly with stakeholders to understand remaining requirements

• Provide recommendations for improvements or refinements where necessary

• Maintain documentation and ensure smooth knowledge transfer

Required Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (data modelling, DAX, report development)

• Experience with data preparation and transformation within Microsoft Azure

• Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure SQL, Azure Data Warehouse/Synapse, Data Factory or similar)

• Experience stepping into mid-project environments and assessing existing work

• Strong stakeholder communication skills

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Nice to Have

• Experience working with cloud-based data warehouse architectures

• Experience optimising existing Power BI models for performance

• Background in business intelligence consulting environments

Project Context

The majority of the foundational Power BI work has already been completed. The client now requires a consultant to continue and finalise the next stage of development, ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining momentum.

Given the nature of the transition, the ability to quickly understand existing architecture and communicate clearly with stakeholders will be essential.

Working Arrangement

This role is fully remote.

Remote means anywhere — there are no geographic restrictions, provided time zone alignment can support effective collaboration.
