The client seeks a Senior Java Developer to play a key role in developing and scaling a high-performance gaming platform. This is a fully remote role, with working hours aligned to Japan/Singapore time zones, designed for experienced developers who can navigate complex systems and contribute meaningfully to both backend and frontend components.

About the Role

This role involves working within a global architecture supporting real-time transactions, high user concurrency, and mission-critical uptime. The developer will work across backend services and frontend interfaces to enhance and optimise a widely used gaming product.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of backend services using Java, ensuring scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with frontend developers using React.js to create responsive, high-performance user interfaces
• Drive technical decisions and contribute to architecture discussions across a distributed system
• Analyse system bottlenecks and optimise performance for global traffic and high-frequency transactions
• Maintain high standards in code quality through testing, reviews, and documentation
• Mentor junior developers and collaborate cross-functionally across time zones
• Support CI/CD practices and cloud-based deployment strategies

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Java
• Proficiency with React.js or equivalent modern frontend frameworks
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale, distributed systems in a production environment
• Strong understanding of microservices, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), and database technologies
• Comfortable leading initiatives and working autonomously in a remote-first setup
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across regions
• Experience in the gaming industry or high-concurrency platforms is a strong advantage
