Senior PHP Developer (Symfony + Doctrine)

About the Role

The client seeks a skilled Senior PHP Developer with deep expertise in Symfony and Doctrine ORM to support and evolve a core backend system. This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity, ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a distributed team environment and values long-term collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core backend services using Symfony and Doctrine
• Collaborate with other developers, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders to design robust APIs and backend workflows
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues in production systems
• Contribute to architectural decisions for scaling and improving infrastructure
• Occasionally support with SQL optimizations and queries
• Work closely with DevOps for deployments and infrastructure tasks in AWS
• Support basic Linux system administration as part of infrastructure responsibilities

Ideal Candidate Will Have

• 5+ years of PHP development experience
• Proven expertise in Symfony framework and Doctrine ORM
• Comfortable working with relational databases and writing performant SQL queries
• Experience working in AWS environments
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, monitoring, containerization, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Linux system administration
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fully remote setup

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Docker or other container tools
• Experience with cloud-native design patterns
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies

Contract Details

• Start date: Immediate or as soon as available
• Duration: 12 months (with high likelihood of extension)
• Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Location: Remote from anywhere
