Overview

The client seeks an experienced Senior WordPress Developer to support ongoing and upcoming digital builds. This role requires a confident developer with deep technical expertise across both front-end and back-end WordPress development. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of scalable architecture, a commitment to clean, maintainable code, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. All work is conducted remotely, with full flexibility on location.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute significantly to the design and development of custom WordPress themes and plugins.
• Collaborate closely with designers, strategists, and fellow developers to deliver user-centric digital experiences.
• Develop high-performance, accessible websites using modern development practices and tools.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and help maintain development best practices across the team.
• Maintain, debug, and enhance existing WordPress builds, with a proactive approach to performance and security.
• Continuously stay up to date on industry best practices, tools, and trends.

Key Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Strong proficiency in PHP, specifically within a WordPress context.
• Skilled in modern JavaScript (ES6+); familiarity with React or Vue is a plus.
• Proven ability to create custom WordPress themes and plugins (without reliance on prebuilt templates).
• Experience working with Elementor, including the development of custom Elements/Widgets with admin UI.
• Comfortable using tools such as Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), WooCommerce, and multilingual plugins.
• In-depth understanding of WordPress core, APIs, and database architecture.
• Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD workflows.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards, web performance, and SEO.
• Experience in agile environments and remote collaboration.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with third-party API integrations and headless WordPress setups.
• Knowledge of hosting platforms such as WP Engine, Kinsta, or Pantheon.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks and automated testing processes.
