Contract Type: Full-time, initial short-term contract with potential for extension


Overview:

The client seeks a skilled UX/UI Designer to join a complex, multi-phase digital product development initiative. This role will begin with foundational UX research—primarily user interviews and usability testing—and extend through to prototyping, interface design, and the creation of a robust design system. The end products include both a Windows desktop application and a web-based platform.


The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience with user-centered design methodologies, strong visual and interaction design skills, and is confident navigating the full UX lifecycle. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with developers and product managers on a high-impact project for a forward-thinking client.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and conduct comprehensive UX research activities, including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative research data to surface actionable insights.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and other key design documentation.
  • Design wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs for both Windows desktop and web platforms.
  • Help define, build, and maintain a design system to ensure design consistency and scalability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with developers and product managers to ensure a seamless handoff from design to implementation.
  • Advocate for accessible and inclusive design that aligns with the brand’s visual and experiential standards.
  • Stay current with UX/UI trends, tools, and best practices.


Required Skills & Experience:


  • Strong background in UX research and user-centered design practices.
  • Experience conducting user interviews and usability testing.
  • Proficient in prototyping and design tools, especially Figma.
  • Expertise in visual design principles including typography, layout, and color theory.
  • Ability to create and maintain a design system.
  • Experience designing for both Windows desktop applications and responsive web platforms.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.


Additional Information:


  • This is a remote position, open to candidates working from anywhere.
  • While the role is remote, occasional in-person meetings in the UK may be requested.
  • The position will begin as a short-term contract with a view to potential long-term extension based on project needs and performance.
  • Note: This role will not utilize Campfire’s scoring system—each candidate’s CV will be individually reviewed.
