Android Developer - Self-Checkout & EPOS Application Enhancement (Contract)

Location: Remote (anywhere)
Contract Duration: Estimated 3-6 months (full-time)
Working Hours: UK working hours, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM GMT
Project Start Date: Expected within 2-3 weeks

Overview:
The client seeks a skilled Android Developer to enhance existing self-checkout and EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) applications for handheld terminals. These applications currently run on Android, and the role will involve adding new functionality to optimize and expand the applications. The successful candidate will work closely with an in-house developer experienced with the project, ensuring a collaborative approach to achieving the project’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:
 • Add new features and functionality to existing Android-based self-checkout and EPOS till applications.
 • Collaborate with the client’s in-house developer, sharing insights and troubleshooting to ensure the best possible solution.
 • Ensure compatibility across multiple Android versions (6 - 11).
 • Implement and optimize solutions within an Android environment to maintain smooth operation across all devices.
 • Adhere to quality standards and client requirements while meeting project deadlines.

Required Skills & Experience:
 • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Java (versions 11 - 17) and Kotlin.
• Android Development: Experience with Android versions 6 - 11, including debugging and optimization.
• Messaging Systems: Knowledge of RabbitMQ for message queuing.
• Experience with Self-Checkout or EPOS Systems is a plus but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for problem-solving.
 • Ability to work autonomously while coordinating effectively within a team.
 • Experience in integrating APIs and external services with Android applications.

Rate: Competitive, based on experience (please inquire for specific day rates)
